Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes information collected when someone visits Grant County Released Inmates, sends a message, or uses a search tool. It also explains why that information is used, the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it, and the choices a visitor can make. Search providers, analytics services, advertising networks, and official sites reached through outbound links operate under their own policies. By using this site, a visitor accepts the practices described below.

Information You Submit

Terms Entered in Search

A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that search service. Grant County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy terms govern its receipt and handling of the query.

Email and Contact Messages

When a visitor sends an email or uses a contact form, the submitted address, message, and related details are retained as needed to read and answer the request. Contact messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Information Collected Automatically

Routine technical data may be recorded when a browser loads a page. This information supports site operation, traffic measurement, security, and troubleshooting. Depending on the service used to process a visit, the data may include:

  • The internet protocol address associated with the request
  • The browser name and version
  • The device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • The date and time of the request

Cookies and Similar Storage

Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through Grant County release-record resources and to support site functions. A browser can reject or remove cookies through its settings. Blocking them may cause some features, partner tools, or preference controls to work differently.

How Information Is Used

Collected information is used only for ordinary operation and improvement of the service. Those purposes include:

  • Keeping pages available, responsive, and secure
  • Sending a search request to the selected partner service
  • Learning which Grant County resource pages visitors find useful
  • Detecting errors, abuse, and other technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests

Other Websites and Services

Links may lead to WVDCR, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail information, Grant County courts and the Sheriff, federal locators, release-record sources, or third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination controls its own content and data practices. Its privacy notice should be reviewed before information is submitted there.

Advertising partners may use their own cookies or related technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on the partner's systems, not on systems controlled by Grant County Released Inmates.

Parties That May Receive Data

Grant County Released Inmates does not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless reach a service provider or public authority when needed for the purposes described in this notice, including:

  • Search partners that process a visitor's submitted query
  • Analytics providers that measure page use and performance
  • Advertising networks that deliver and measure ads
  • Law-enforcement agencies or government bodies acting under a valid legal order

Security Practices and Limits

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information under the site's control. No website, network, storage service, or internet transmission can be promised as fully secure. Grant County Released Inmates therefore cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the limits of what is held, a visitor may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal information held about that visitor
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete personal information where erasure is available
  • Opt out of certain processing when the law provides that choice
